And then the rates came
Article Abstract:
The draft 2000 rating list, which will come into effect in the UK on Apr 1, 2000, will be based on the valuation date of Apr 1, 1998. There have been significant changes in rateable values in certain parts of the UK, and there would have been very large increases in rates if it had not been for the government's transitional arrangements. However, some rating surveyors believe that these arrangements have a negative impact on the purpose of the revaluation process, which is to spread the rates burden in relation to the relative rental values of properties.
