Attractive real estate investment opportunities in Poland
Article Abstract:
Poland's transition from a socialist to a free-market economy has created a lucrative real estate market. Shortages of housing and commercial facilities exist because the former Communist government disregarded construction and real estate development. Poland has commercial lease, zoning and real property laws that should be considered before making any investments. Investors should also be aware of zoning problems, investment and real estate market conditions, foreign ownership rules and restitution problems.

The government trust agency, Treuhandanstalt, now owns about 8,000 companies that were once state-owned and plans to privatize these companies. Foreign investors have been reluctant to invest, but opportunities are available to those who plan carefully.
