Driven to distraction
Article Abstract:
Sustainable transport solutions are becoming a key issue for property developers in the UK as towns and cities face high levels of traffic congestion. Planning authorities are seeking to minimize the amount of car parking provided in new developments, but this approach is not always favoured by occupiers and developers. One solution may be for developers to focus on boosting availability of high quality, convenient, short-stay parking and to cut the amount of long-term parking.

A whole new lease of life
Article Abstract:
The growing shortage of high quality office accommodation in the UK is placing landlords in a stronger bargaining position. They are now no longer obliged to offer five-year leases with six months rent free in order to attract occupiers, and leases are becoming longer, particularly for high quality and new buildings. However, there are strong indications that tenants will resist attempts by landlords to return to longer leases.
