Dilapidated properties in search of caring owners
Article Abstract:
The most recent SAVE catalogue gives details of more than 130 run-down historic buildings which are available for purchase. Some are large, such as the former GPO in Hartlepool, Cleveland, while others are small and in isolated locations. It is possible in certain areas to obtain grants for the repair of historic buildings. The SAVE annual catalogue has successfully attracted many purchasers for endangered historic buildings.

Cotswolds strategy aims to offset urbanisation
Article Abstract:
Many villages in the Cotswolds are taking on a suburban appearance, particularly with the use of reconstituted stone and of modern street layouts, according to a draft management strategy for the Cotswolds AONB. This document calls for more attention to be paid to issues which at present do not come within planning control regulations. It places emphasis on the conservation of the AONB and on sustainable planning.
