Shopping volleys
Article Abstract:
There are increasing signs of a revival in the retail sector in south west Scottish towns such as Ayr, Dumfries and Kilmarnock. In Kilmarnock, Vico Properties plans to build a 30-unit uncovered scheme on a 4 acre site which has been derelict for 10 years. This will be the subject of a public inquiry shortly. In Dumfries, Sainsbury's plans a 11,612 sq mt non-food and leisure development, with completion set for autumn 1997. In Ayr, activity is increasing around ESN's The Kyle Centre.
