A survey found that land purchased for housing development has been increasing in value, with prices rising by 30% in some areas of the UK. The Valuation Office's property market report is the result of research by 95 experts based in the UK, Information concerning transactions carried out between Oct 1996-Apr 1997 are included in the Spring 1997 publication. Real estate transactions have increased by 28%, with prices in the housing market improving in some areas such as the South West. The demand for retail property is variable but leisure facilities are growing in popularity.

Blue Circle focuses Kent plans
Article Abstract:
Whitecliff Properties is a new company created by Blue Circle Industries and Lend Lease to develop Blue Circle's surplus landholdings in the UK. It plans to develop 911 ha owned by Blue Circle in Kent, with the landbank still being owned by Blue Circle. It will also continue to work on the land bordering Bluewater, the 148,640 sq mt regional shopping centre in Dartford, England.
