Hotel loans are much more complex than simple real estate loans, because they provide funds not only to purchase property, but to operate a business. The security of a hotel loan, therefore, consists of assets, in addition to real property, that can be hard to understand and control. Hotel lenders, in order properly protect themselves, need to understand hotel finances and a variety of special issues.
