End of season
Article Abstract:
The Covent Garden area in London, England, is known as an orignal shopping centre comprising of unusual stores often run by independent tenants. Some observers fear that the introduction of shops from retail chains such as Marks & Spencer will make the area lose its appeal. Rental charges for the area have already increased to levels of around 450 pounds sterling per sq ft. Others suggest that rents have only increased by around 5-10% between 1990-1997 and that the introduction of multiples will increase development in the area.
