Errors that drive away developers
Article Abstract:
There are significant problems with the planning process in Westminster, England, a borough of London. The process is associated with a great deal of apparently unnecessary bureaucracy, and developers have to wait several weeks to get a response to any detail change. The borough's planners seem to place excessive emphasis on unusual and unlikely views of buildings from the street, and often impose difficult conditions on any planning consent they eventually grant. It is now time for this situation to be improved if developers and occupiers are not to be driven away.

Yet more fingers in the pie
Article Abstract:
United Kingdom Conservative Member of Parliament John Gummer sympathizes with Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott over being unjustly accused of wrongdoing by journalists. Gummer points out the Thames Strategy, which was successfully looking into development along the Thames riverside, has been put on hold until the new Mayor of London, England, has been elected. The Labour party intends to include planning within the remit of the new Mayor of London but Gummer fears it will cause delays in the planning process.
