Kentucky's favorable economic condition is expected to continue, as government officials focus on education reforms and other ways to achieve a growing skilled labor force. The state's rubber, plastics and auto industries are likely to thrive, given a favorable geographic setting. Infrastructure, worker productivity, work ethic and quality of life are Kentucky's strength, making the state have a satisfactory to good unskilled and semi-skilled blue collar workers, clerical and entry level management personnel.

Kentucky has something to be proud of beside its classic bourbon, lush green fields and Thoroughbreds. With attractive tax incentives and an ideal location, the Bluegrass state has become the site for industrial development. Around 185 of the Fortune 500 companies that are found in Kentucky were most likely enticed by the state's abundance of land, pro-business government, high quality of life and highly productive workforce. Since 1992, over 2,500 industries have located or expanded in Kentucky.

Kentucky: world-class serious about work
Article Abstract:
Kentucky's strategy for attracting business includes a workers' compensation reform and the Empower Kentucky initiative. The reform greatly reduces compensation costs while the program basically targets the reengineering of government business methods to lower costs. The state fund will then be used for business development programs, such as employee training. Kentucky's other selling points include a capable labor force, low industrial location costs and attractive tax breaks.
