Latin America takes a wake-up call
Article Abstract:
Latin America's telecommunications industry is undergoing a major change with the liberalization and opening of telecom operations to private operators. This development makes Latin America a good choice for site-seeking business operators. Satellite-based communications, the most dependable telecom method in the area, is getting more connections to Europe and South America. A second teleport is also being planned in Rio de Janeiro with the support of the Brazilian government. Another project is the establishment of undersea fiber cables connecting Miami to Puerto Rico.
