The changing trends in the retail trade stores are discussed. Consumers in America now prefer to shop in lifestyle centers rather than the traditional enclosed malls. The cost benefit analysis of such centers is discussed from the point of investors. As the rents for lifestyle centers are low, the tenants too prefer these to the traditional malls.

The office building market is uncertain for the new millenium. The new telecommunication technologies will determine how office buildings are configured or, in the case of telecommuting, whether they are necessary at all.
