Clearing the shelves
Article Abstract:
Booker-UK is planning to sell some 40 of its warehouses and has already sold 1.25 million sq ft of warehouse space. Booker purchased Nurdin and Peacock (N and P) in Nov 1996, during a period of reorganisation of the company. Booker intends to utilize the best out of both companies. Some of the surplus stock has come from relocating N and P outlets to Booker's own warehouses and other vacant buildings are due to a previously depressed market for secondhand warehouses. Booker has built a new 330,000 sq ft distribution facility in Northampton, England.
