Many companies which are considering a full relocation will first just relocate a few staff before making a final decision. Recent research indicates that many companies are now looking at relocation, mainly because of business expansion. Many analysts now believe that relocation operates according to a seven-year cycle, and are expecting a boom to take place soon.

The UK's cinema operators have started to acknowledge that multiplex developments are the best way to secure future profitability. Such schemes can be extremely expensive, but this has not deterred companies such as MGM Cinemas, UCI and National Amusements. Multiplexes can be particularly successful if they are linked with other facilities, such as restaurants.

JLP takes centre stage at Buchanan retail centre

Slough Estates and AMP Asset Management have seen John Lewis Partnership (JLP) take 300,000 sq ft at their 150 million pounds sterling, 600,000 sq ft Buchanan Galleries development in Glasgow. This will open in spring 1999, and will have units of 500-50,000 sq ft. It will have a significant impact on the structure of Glasgow's retail centre.
