Manufacturing, distribution and service companies are placing their sights on eastern North Carolina as a site for new plants and expansions because of its location advantages. Strong work ethics, a high quality of life and an abundant supply of skilled workers are also some of the reasons for its attractiveness to the industrial sector. The state also has numerous military installations that opens various economic opportunities for profits and offers transportation advantages that are suitable for companies whose major requirement for location decision-making is proximity to areas with strong growth.

Marysville: international home town

Marysville is a small city in Union County, OH, with a population of 10,000. Despite its small size, companies in the state's metro areas are eyeing it for their expansions because of its transportation advantages and because it is the site of Ohio's Transportation Research Center, the largest research facility dedicated to improving research and development of transportation systems. One multinational firm that has been drawn to this city is Honda Motor Co. Ltd., a world leader in automobile manufacturing. Marysville is also home to Nestle Corp.'s largest R&D unit worldwide.

Zanesville is city in Muskingum County, OH, with a population of 28,000. Its strongest attraction in terms of location is its transportation advantages. Located on I-70 and with service by three railroads, Zanesville is a suitable location for distribution companies and has been given the monicker 'gateway to the world' for this reason. Another of its appeal in relation to industry is its hand crafts. Majority of its workforce is in manufacturing of handwoven baskets, pottery, wiring harness and glass containers.
