Portfolio diversification and Caribbean hospitality real estate
Article Abstract:
Occupancy rates for hotels in 11 Caribbean countries were studied. Results implied that the hotel industries in the countries represent assets that can decrease the risk of US portfolios through the reduction of the variances of the portfolios' returns. Negative correlations found among hotel industries of several countries and US investment indexes suggested that the risk in domestic portfolios may be reduced by including Caribbean real estate investments.
