Ports in a storm
Article Abstract:
The port towns of Dover and Folkestone in Kent, England, suffered when the Channel Tunnel took away some of their ferry traffic, but there are now some signs of growing confidence. Office rents fell to under six pounds sterling per square foot in the towns and there is little town centre retail interest. However, improvements in the M20 and M2 motorway corridors, due to the Channel Tunnel development, provide an infrastructure which may be restoring interest in the towns. The MOD may have a purchaser for its 198 acre site and a redeveloped wharf site in Dover proved more successful than expected.

Roads round the corner to recovery
Article Abstract:
Work is commencing on the construction of two relief roads in the Medway region of Kent, England. Local property experts anticipate that the completion of these roads will boost the property market in the local towns of Chatham, Gillingham and Rochester. The property sector is generally depressed in the area. However, two developments experiencing some activity are the Gillingham Business Park, a 128 acre site near the M2 motorway, and Chatham Maritime, a regeneration of an old Royal Navy dockyard site.
