Article Abstract:
The amount of farmland offered for salein Scotland has increased in 1995 with premium arableland selling for as much as 2,500 pounds sterling per acre. Land was cheaper in Scotland than in southern England in 1993, but prices have risen in Scotland with rises in farmers' incomes and the difference has been eroded in 1995. Supply shortages have also pushed up the price of land in Scotland. The price of land could double from levels paid in 1992, according to a Savills spokesman.
