Public housing and the collateral for residential loans
Article Abstract:
The government's programs to provide housing for the economically-disadvantaged has resulted in the decline of prices of private housing properties. An analysis of transactions concerning low-income properties indicated that over time, the negative effect dissipates so that the deleterious effect is transitory. In addition, low-income housing built for senior citizens promote a negative impact vis-a-vis housing for families.

Congress misses an opportunity to reform public housing
Article Abstract:
Efforts to reform public housing in the US have failed due to policy differences between the Clinton administration and the Republican-led Congress. The executive branch has consistently espoused tenant-based housing assistance through the provision of portable rent vouchers. On the other hand, majority of the legislators have supported project-based assistance which provides apartments for eligible families.

Low-income housing tax credit investments: from the boutique to the mainstream in one decade
Article Abstract:
The federal low-income housing tax credit program has promoted the establishment of affordable rental housing in the country. By early 1997, tax credit-based investments have resulted in 900,000 units of affordable rental housing. The program has also brought about changes in several areas, such as the availability of capital, financing structures, competitive environment, and expertise of participants.
