Publicly traded real estate investment trusts (REITs) are positioned for continuous growth as new owners of company-based real estate despite the financial adversity suffered by the public REIT market in 1998. It is estimated that corporations own almost 50% of all US commercial property despite the frenetic acquisition pace of REITs since 1994. Corporate managers can effectively redeploy their real estate assets using an REIT vehicle with scrupulous analysis.
