Setting a new PACE
Article Abstract:
Property Advisors to the Civil Estate (PACE) has been introduced by theEnvironment minister John Gummer. The agency is to replace Property Holdings and will be responsible for government property, effective from April 1 1996. The entire Civil Estate is currently made up by 125 million square feet, including non-commercial property. PACE will be responsible for rationalisation and coordination of the estate, and for providing advice on rent reviews and new property acquisition.

Kimg Sturge regains the crown as DTZ loses out
Article Abstract:
A survey undertaken by Economic Development Briefing of 927 organisations representing the largest 3,000 property owners in the UK indicated that King Sturge is considered the best surveying firm, with DTZ Debenham Thorpe in second place. Overall, DTZ headed the rankings, winning first place in six property services categories and second in a further six. Other leading companies included Chesterton, Grimley and Gerald Eve.

Rivals shortlisted for Treasury job
Article Abstract:
The Treasury and Property Holdings are to select either a consortium led by Godfrey Bradman or a team headed by Stuart Lipton to undertake the 200 million pounds sterling redevelopment of the Treasury building in London SW1. The final decision will be made in Jan 1996. The rival groups must now consider the fine details of planning and funding. Both are seeking funding.
