Shopping for clues
Article Abstract:
The UK National Retail Planning Forum's Shopping Scheme Development Pipeline Validation Project addressed the problem of estimating how much retail space is due to come on stream. It looked in particular at this issue in relation to the use of planning consent information. One of its main aims was to investigate the age of permissions, and its principle measure was thus how long each site had been the subject of a live permission on a continuous basis. Sites were categorized on the basis of their likelihood of implementation, to show the proportion of the consent pipeline that might proceed to development.
