Solid growth marks capital flows to the USA
Article Abstract:
The US has attracted a significant amount of foreign direct investment (FDI) due to its continued economic growth. Dept of Commerce statistics show that total FDI reached $85.6 billion by the end of 1997, up by 15% from 1996. Acquisition activity by foreign investors also remained high especially in the pharmaceutical industry. The southeastern states enjoyed the lion's share of FDI with Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA, and Greenville, SC as the top three cities for foreign investment.
