Stakeholders take over
Article Abstract:
The Crown Estate is taking charge of an initiative to improve the Holborn Viaduct area, London, England. Along with other stakeholders of properties along the viaduct they have set up the Holborn Viaduct Steering Group. Their main aim is to improve the environment of the viaduct. Businesses located in the vicinity will benefit from a better environment for their workers, who may happier to stay in the area. Some observers point out the Crown Estate should aim at increasing retail and leisure outlets in the area rather than focus on making a more green environment.

Finding its feet
Article Abstract:
The first year of the North West Development Agency (NWDA) has been mainly devoted to the preparation of strategy and to rebranding. Mixed views continue to be expressed about NWDA's effectiveness. Some observers feel that it is too bureaucratic, and claims such as these will have to be tackled if it is to attract additional funding, especially from the private sector. Environment Secretary John Prescott has rejected NWDA's request for increased funding of 1 billion pounds sterling over 20 years.
