Swanston passes the baton ..
Article Abstract:
The RICS has established much stronger links with educational establishments during the year in which Roy Swanston has been president. He has emphasised the importance of employers deciding which graduate courses best meet their requirements, and has taken steps to ensure that chartered surveying degrees are now good general degrees, allowing surveying graduates to obtain employment in a number of different areas. He is particularly keen for people to plan their careers thoroughly, and for the RICS to play an active role in this process.

and Pott takes up the running
Article Abstract:
Simon Pott, the new president of the RICS, has experience in a number of different industries, but is now a director of William H Brown, responsible for the company's agricultural department. He is particularly interested in reform of the housing market, and believes that the RICS should play a strong role in influencing political opinion on this issue. He is keen to carry on the work already being undertaken by the RICS in areas such as education.
