A detailed analysis of the mushrooming of business centers, in place of Base Realignment and Closing (BARC), which previously had been severely affected by BARC, is presented. Due to the creation of BARC communities, 1 lac civilian jobs were lost. Currently around 33 military bases have been scheduled to close down and 29 others to be realigned.

Article Abstract:
The trends in industrial site selection in the United States are discussed. Most of the companies opt for sites, which are not clustered with biotechnology centers for their new facilities. The criteria adopted by the companies in searching a suitable location for their industry are also discussed with examples.

The call center industry is expanding in the South and Midwest in the United States due to low labor costs and affordable real estates. Datamonitor's research in Canada indicated that the Western provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba would see the most growth.
