Direct investment in real estate has remained as a viable alternative to real estate investment trusts (REITs). REITS, which replaced direct investments as the most popular method of real estate investment, took advantage of the depression in the industry. With the significant improvements in market conditions, direct investments allow investors to release the assets from the burden of the securities market.
