The role of leverage in real estate portfolios
Article Abstract:
Leverage is not the best method for financing a real estate portfolio since the risks are often higher than the returns. There are valid reasons to encumber real property as part of a leverage deal, such as financing a partnership or joint venture. In this case a mixed-asset portfolio would help spread out the risks.
