Top 100 surveyors
Article Abstract:
The UK's leading 100 commercial surveying businesses, as identified by Estates Gazette, achieved turnover of more than 1 billion pounds sterling in 1998. There was a great deal of merger activity among leading surveying businesses, and there was a clear trend towards globalization. The performance of the leading 100 firms indicates that the surveying sector as a whole is reasonably strong, and it is generally believed that the market will continue to offer opportunities for expansion.

The alternate perspective
Article Abstract:
The most profitable surveying firms in the UK are not necessarily those with the largest turnover. Indeed, some firms that are ranked relatively low in terms of turnover are among the most profitable. These include Baker Lorenz and Harvey Spack Field. The most profitable surveying firms in 1998 were CB Hillier Parker, DTZ Debenham Thorpe, FPD Savills, King Sturge & Co and Knight Frank. The reluctance among surveying firms to issue profit information is now diminishing.
