Turning coal and steel into gold
Article Abstract:
The service sector is now at the forefront of economic expansion in South and West Yorkshire, rather than traditional manufacturing industries. Leeds has become one of the key centres in the UK for business and financial services, and now has more than 225,000 jobs in the service sector. However, there are still problems with unemployment in parts of South Yorkshire where traditional industries have shut down. Attempts are being made to attract new employers by offering a range of incentives.

Bed-hopping in the capital
Article Abstract:
The London hotel market has seen only limited activity in 1995, with the purchases of the Ritz and the Regent, but the Barlcay twins and Landmark Group respectively, being exceptional deals. However, the market is set to see a strong rise in activity as hotels continue to enjoy good business conditions. London still has an underlying shortage of hotel beds, and some operators are now considering converting empty office buildings, thus overcome the shortage of suitable sites.
