Twice as nice
Article Abstract:
The property sector in King's Lynn, England, will be boosted by two new schemes planned by the borough council. A mixed-used development has been proposed for the 10.5 hectare Boal Quay and Harding's Pits site. The first phase would include an 8,000 sq mt foodstore and a petrol station, an 80-berth marina, and several leisure uses. Phase two would include a hotel, small retail outlets, and residential units. The council also plans to redevelop the 18,580 sq mt Vancouver shopping centre: this would give a much-needed boost to the town's retail sector.

Cuts square the circle
Article Abstract:
Disposing of surplus property is a significant challenge, according to Richard Spray, head of Blue Circle Industries' property division. He believes that more than half of the group's 10,118 ha in its UK property portfolio is no longer required. He feels that the division has been proactive with core business development opportunities, with the recycling of property having raised 55 million pounds sterling since the late 1980s. He regards external agents as the division's main competition.
