Uptown whirl
Article Abstract:
The increased demand for sites for the development of licensed leisure facilities in the city of Bristol, England, has lead to a shortage of suitable venues. The Harbourside development will include two new leisure attractions at a cost of 41 million pounds sterling. Further multiplex cinemas are planned for the city centre and the Cribbs Causeway centre whilst a 14-screen cinema is already operating in the Avon Mead area. Some observers are questioning the need to build more cinemas whilst others are calling for an extension to the sporting facilities in the city.

Welcome to the pleasure dome
Article Abstract:
Research on recreational areas with multiple attractions finds that customers see 2.2 attractions every time they visit the site. Some in the industry question the statistic, saying that customers usually cannot afford to see so many sights in one visit. Instead, they visit one attraction one week and go to a new one the next week. Restaurants at leisure attractions are particularly successful at drawing customers, but they are only at capacity on Friday and Saturday nights.
