Using swaps to mitigate the risk of foreign real estate investment
Article Abstract:
Business risk, interest rate risk and exchange rate risk are the three risks related with foreign real estate investments. Several kinds of swaps were traditionally used to lessen impact rate risk and currency risk. Swaps have always been used by various financial institutions that have foreign bond investments due to the exposure of foreign bonds to interest rate risk and exchange rate risk. Swaps could hedge the interest rate and exchange rate risk of cewrtain real estate types just like in foreign bonds.
