Availability of office space in St. Albans, England, totalled 198,000 sq ft at end-1994, against 396,000 sq ft in 1991. St. Albans, with its easy access to Heathrow, is popular with local occupiers, although many may have to move further north to seek suitable accommodation. The decrease in available space means that rents are starting to rise. Much of the city is a conservation area, leaving little opportunity for new development. An overview of the commercial and industrial property market in St. Albans is presented.

The property sector has been performing well in Dundee, Scotland. The City Centre Initiative has improved the retail market, due to a pedestrianisation scheme which was finished in June 1995. Take-up of industrial property has been high in the last year, according to Ken Macdonald of Tayside Region Industrial Office.
