Winner & giver: Peace wins Krafsur Award

Lucent Technologies' corporate real estate district manager John Peace won the 1999 Krafsur Award, affirming the status of the award as a high-quality tribute to the who's who of the corporate real estate world. The award was created in 1988 by Howard Krafsur, a legendary industry figure who is the principal and vice-president of corporate accounts for Colliers, Bennett and Kahnweiler. Past winners of the award include Ed McCaffery, John Gage, Ted Molinari, Jim Stoker, Mike Bell, Al Sramek, Bill Yontz, Roger Beck, Keith Banke and Wayne Mills.

Rapid-growth small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are increasingly turning to angel investors and venture capital companies for expansion capital to fuel their growth. Banks are not high on the list of SMEs as sources of additional capital because they require stable cash flows and solid collateral. Aside from venture capital firms and angel investors, economic development groups have also emerged as financiers of SMEs.
