Democracy and economic growth in Africa: The cases of Ghana and South Africa
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to assess the impact of democracy and economic growth in Africa focusing on Ghana and South Africa because of the international notoriety they have received for their progress in promoting democratic governance. Evident conclusions state that promotion of democratic institutions have a positive impact on economic growth in South Africa but not in the case of Ghana.

Reflections on African development
Article Abstract:
Several challenges such as HIV/AIDS pandemic and globalization that confronted African countries are highlighted. The poor economic performance of African economies during the post-independence due to sub-optimal economic policies and weak institutions is discussed. Suggestions, to deal the challenges faced by the continent are provided.

Female participation in the formal sector and development in sub-Saharan Africa

A study is undertaken to find the impact of increasing women in the formal sector, on development in sub-Saharan African countries. A number of historical and theoretical issues relating to the relatively weak socio-economic status of women in Africa is examined.
