A few years ago new housing was a byword for naff. Not any more
Article Abstract:
House purchasers in London have traditionally avoided new homes, which they have seen as being of poor quality and less attractive than old houses with large rooms and period features. However, they are now beginning to be attracted to the new homes which are being built within the shells of redundant hospitals, warehouses, offices and schools and on patches of empty land in built-up areas. The new-build market is expanding on the basis of customer choice, with purchasers being able to select their own finishes and colours.

Up sticks and back to the city
Article Abstract:
Many older people are now choosing to move back to or remain in a city, rather than spending their retirement in a quiet seaside or country town. They believe that living in a city will give them a more active social life and that they will benefit from being close to facilities such as public transport, shops and hospitals. They dismiss the perceived disadvantages of city life, such as high crime levels, believing that these problems are also starting to spread to the country too.

How green is your plumbing?
Article Abstract:
House builders are increasingly incorporating environmentally-friendly features into their designs, especially those which contribute to energy saving. However, they have found that most purchasers are only interested in these features if the design of the house remains traditional. True environmentalists believe that this is not going far enough, as they are seeking houses which make as little environmental impact as possible, and therefore consider issues such as location.
