A love affair at work turns sour
Article Abstract:
A number of recent cases in which claims of racial or sexual discrimination have been made indicate that the apparently positive relationship between Japanese employers and British workers is now becoming very strained. There are growing signs of cultural clashes, with some British workers claiming that they were overlooked for promotion and others claiming unfair dismissal. Japanese companies have for many years been admired for their culture of equality between all employees, but these reports have served to overturn this image.

Going doolally in Delhi with a cushy number, a glass of simkin and a plate of rumble tumble
Article Abstract:
Nigel Hankin, who was born in the UK but has lived in Delhi, India, since 1945, has seen the publication of the third edition of his book 'Hanklyn-Janklyn.' This is a glossary of words which are commonly used in Indian English but which can be completely unintelligible for people who have only recently arrived in India. The book is more than merely a reference work, as it also provides a very interesting insight into various aspects of the British presence in India.

The SAS confronts its enemy within
Article Abstract:
There have been a considerable number of books published over recent years which give many details about the activities of the SAS. Some, especially those written by former SAS members, tend to give a negative view of SAS procedures and techniques. The SAS has now responded by setting up a committee to investigate ways of preventing further information being made public. It is even possible that penalties will be levied against those who reveal SAS secrets.
