A moral life in this godless world
Article Abstract:
Peter Singer has become one of the most prominent figures in the animal liberation movement. His philosophy is firmly grounded in the global conscience, with his views providing the intellectual basis for the views of ordinary people on issues such as abortion and environmental protection. He criticises the self-centred culture of the 1980s and presents a way of dealing with the large volumes of information which are now being produced by the electronically linked world.

A pinch of soil: the final frontier
Article Abstract:
The knowledge of biologists about the vast numbers of species which exist on the Earth is extremely limited. This means that species are probably been destroyed about which nothing has ever been known. Industralisation is severely endangering biodiversity, and this in turn is placing the continued existence of humankind at risk. Some observers now believe that the world is entering another period of mass extinction.
