A nation left in search of a mother
Article Abstract:
The death of Diana, Princess of Wales, has served to highlight the fact that the modern British monarchy is based on matriarchy, rather than kingship. It seems that the British people need a mother as the figurehead of the nation, with royal men apparently not able to provide the feeling which is vital to the modern monarchy. Future generations in the UK will remember significant royal women with ease, while royal men have already faded into the background.

Just don't call me Mother ...
Article Abstract:
Extensive research has been undertaken in advance of the launch of M magazine on May 4, 1998. Particular care has been taken to ensure that the tone of the magazine, especially its title, will appeal to wealthy, well-educated mothers aged between 25 and 40. Research indicates that women are very unwilling to be identified as parents in the media they purchase. For this reason, M will have to look more like glossy magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Vogue.

Picasso the seducer was more sinned against than sinning
Article Abstract:
Pablo Picasso has been unfairly judged by the moral standards of the late 20th century, according to John Richardson in the second volume of 'A Life of Picasso.' He has been described as a misogynist who treated women badly, while others with similar attitudes, such as Matisse and Rembrandt, have not been criticised. Richardson admits that Picasso treated women badly, but emphasises that he also showed tenderness and compassion.
