Acrimony as Maurice Saatchi severs agency links

Advertising agency Saatchi and Saatchi has seen the departure of co-founder and chairman Maurice Saatchi, who may now be considering setting up a new agency. He believes that the agency has been taken over by managers who have little concern for advertising, clients or personnel relations, and that the views of minor shareholders have been allowed to prevail. Saatchi executives are now working very hard to ensure that Maurice Saatchi's departure does as little damage as possible to staff morale and client relations.

It is rumoured that the Conservative party may move its advertising account from Saatchi and Saatchi, which is currently facing considerable problems, to The New Saatchi Agency, an operation being established by Saatchi and Saatchi founder Maurice Saatchi. The agency has already lost the accounts of British Airways and Mirror Group, and is now having to deal with the possibility of a Securities and Exchange Commission investigation into share dealings.
