Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd, the Stones ... Iain Banks? The monster of rock that never was
Article Abstract:
Novelist Iain Banks generally has little contact with adaptations of his work. However, he did contribute the music that accompanies the Radio 4 adaptation of 'Espedair Street,' which tells of a Glaswegian student pub band. He composed this music while he was still at college, at least 10 years before he began writing the book. At that time, he was influenced by groups including Led Zeppelin and Jethro Tull. When he came to write the novel, he wanted to return to the world of 1970s rock music.

Breaking Banks
Article Abstract:
Having a moral framework is vital for all human beings, according to author Iain Banks, who has attracted attention for the brutality and violence contained in novels such as 'The Wasp Factory' and 'The Bridge.' He presents moral dilemmas and opposing points of view in a very compelling way, and in this way distinguishes himself from many other contemporary novelists. Most recently, his work 'The Crow Road' has been adapted for television.

The sting of wasps and stars
Article Abstract:
Scottish novelist Iain Banks is one of Granta's 20 Best Young British Novelists of 1993. He also writes science fiction as Iain M Banks. He only dropped the 'M,' which stands for the family name of Menzies, at his publisher's request. He believes science fiction (SF) is an important genre as it anticipates the future. Characters and their situations should be complex.
