Allen Funt
Article Abstract:
Television producer and presenter Allen Funt attended art school and gained a degree from Cornell University. He began his working life in the art department of an advertising agency, but then moved into broadcasting. He worked with Eleanor Roosevelt on her radio commentaries before serving in the Army Signal Corps during the second world war. He secretly recorded the views of servicemen, and this venture developed into the radio programme 'Candid Microphone,' first broadcast in 1947. This show developed into the television programme 'Candid Camera,' first broadcast in 1949.

Graeme McDonald
Article Abstract:
Television producer and executive Graeme McDonald began his career in television in 1960, when he became a trainee director at Granada. He joined the BBC as a producer in 1966, and in 1981 was appointed head of Television Drama Group. He was controller of BBC2 between 1983 and 1987 and managing director of Anglia Films between 1988 and 1994. While working at the BBC, his most significant contributions were to 'The Wednesday Play' and 'Play for Today.'

James Bredin
Article Abstract:
Television producer James Bredin studied at London University, England, and between 1943 and 1946 was Second Lieutenant in the RNVR Fleet Air Arm. He worked on documentaries at the BBC, and in 1954 began directing 'Viewpoint.' He moved to ITN, and in 1959 directed ITN's general election programme. He became managing director at Border Television in 1964, and was BP Press Fellow at Wolfson College, Cambridge, England, in 1987.
