The Jalozai Camp in Pakistan's North-West Frontier Province is expanding rapidly as refugees continue to arrive from Afghanistan. The border is officially closed, but many people are still fleeing Afghanistan's Taliban regime and the drought there.

The threat of Western military action against Afghanistan has significantly increased the flow of Afghans to Pakistan. They are now living in very harsh conditions and serious disease is beginning to spread. The World Health Organisation's emergency and humanitarian action unit has received insufficient funding to cope with outbreaks of disease in the region.
