Are you ready for spring?
Article Abstract:
It is not yet possible to plant seeds, as the ground is too cold and wet, but there are still many other tasks to be undertaken in order to prepare the garden for spring. It is worth considering purchasing young plants which can be grown on to put out in May, from example, and time must be spent clearing out borders. There is still time to split and move clumps of polygonum, rudbeckia, campanula and helenium, and large clumps of snowdrops and aconites should be split up when they have finished flowering.

The seeds of triumph
Article Abstract:
It is worthwhile planning ahead early in the year for summer flowers. Zinnias, which are easy to grow from seed, can provide a great deal of interest in the garden, and will flower from Jul to Oct. It is also worth considering trying new varieties of aquilegia, which grow well in both sun and shade. Other attractive summer flowers include nasturtiums, Californian poppies, pot marigolds and sunflowers. These can be mixed with vegetables if required.
