As police stand and watch, the Timor militia go on a rampage

The headquarters of the United Nations (UN) in Dili, East Timor, houses 300 women and children taking refuge from fighting outside. The UN Security Council has condemned the violence and asked local authorities to arrest the culprits. The militia are seeking to disrupt the referendum, and the Indonesian security forces are cooperating with them, both passively and actively. The Indonesian government has done nothing depsite its promises, and the militia are ignored by the police.
