Article Abstract:

Attention to detail is vital when illustrating children's books and undertaking animations of these works, even if children themselves do not really appreciate this, according to artist Posy Simmonds. She first became well known for her cartoon strip in the Guardian newspaper, but over recent years has focused on children's books. Her works include 'Matilda' and 'Bouncing Buffalo.' Channel 4 is shortly to show a version of 'Famous Fred,' one of her first books.

It is possible to gain inspiration from almost any source, according to Paul Smith, designer of men's clothing. He has developed a highly successful business, and now sells to 40 countries. His designs manage to combine classic and modern elements, and appeal to men of all ages. He had no formal design training, and learnt simply through practice. He spent many years doing alterations, and also had night-school training in pattern cutting and sewing.
