Bela Szasz
Article Abstract:
Writer Bela Szasz studied French and Hungarian at the Philology Faculty of Peter Pazmany University in Budapest, Hungary. He developed an interest in politics while studying at the Sorbonne in Paris, France. He edited several radical left-wing magazines on his return to Hungary. He completed a course as a cameraman in Paris in 1937, and then travelled to South America. He returned to Hungary in 1946, and became Head of the Press Dept in the Ministry of Agriculture. He emigrated to the UK in 1957, but continued to participate in Hungarian literary life.

Miklos Vasarhelyi
Article Abstract:
The Hungarian journalist and politician Miklos Vasarhelyi died on Jul 31 2001 aged 83. The liberal intellectual spent five years in jail for his role in the 1956 revolution. He was one of the founders of the Free Democrats Association in 1988.
