The Co-operative Wholesale Society, which has 40,000 acres of land, is experimenting with organic cultivation with technical advice from the Soil Association and the Organic Advisory Service. Safeway is sponsoring a project investigating vegetable and beef production at Jamesfield farm, Edinburgh. Rhone-Poulenc, the giant agrochemicals company is testing the viability, environmental impact and quality of organic wheat at Boarded Barns Farm, Ongar, Essex. Standards will be introduced in summer 1992 with an EC regulation on production.

Stanley Kubrick does not approach things in a linear fashion, according to actress, model and musician Julienne Davis, who plays drug addict prostitute Mandy in Kubrick's film 'Eyes Wide Shut.' She found that she bonded well with Kubrick. He was not dictatorial, but was prepared to assert himself when necessary. She found it very difficult to do the scenes in which she had to hold her breath and not blink for a long time.
