Blinded by the light
Article Abstract:
Those planning to view the total eclipse of the sun in Aug 1999 should be aware that they can cause serious damage to their eyes if they do not take proper precautions. This damage can include burning out the retina. There is also the risk of photochemical eye damage, which brings no immediate pain or loss of vision. Charity Fight for Sight indicates that the best way to view the eclipse is to turn your back on it and use a pinhole projector to project it onto another piece of card, screen or wall.

Should I stay or go?
Article Abstract:
It has become increasingly difficult over recent years for young people to move away from home, according to Jim Narkiewicz. His stepson Jan left school at 16 and subsequently went to live in Canada for two years. However, he began living at home again on his return, and his stepfather now feels that he is not learning to become a responsible adult. Jan admits that he enjoys living at home, but points out that he cannot really afford to live independently.
